About this conference

DEF CON is one of the world's largest and longest-running hacker conventions, and recent editions have drawn more than 30,000 attendees. The official site confirms DEF CON 35 for 5-8 August 2027 at the Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall. Talks are only part of it: the villages, contests, capture-the-flag competitions and electronic badge culture are what most regulars actually come for, and the villages function as small conferences in their own right. It is deliberately unlike a trade show, with a small vendor area, strong norms about photography and recording, and a flat admission price rather than tiered passes. Talks are published free afterwards. It follows immediately on from Black Hat at the same time of year; attend Black Hat for the corporate track and DEF CON for the community one.
